The Beginning of Great Lent (March 2nd)
“Who does not fast the holy Quadragesimal fast of Easter (the Great Lent), let him be excommunicated”
Canon of the Holy Apostles LXIX.
From this Canon we can see, that participation to the best of one’s abilities in Great Lent is obligatory for all Orthodox Christians. The measure of this participation should be defined in consultation with a Priest who will then give an individual blessing for Great Lent.
Every Wednesday, if there is no service in the schedule, we are reading
AKATHIST TO THE ICON OF THE HOLY LADY OF KAZAN.
This reading starts at 19:00 at the church.
Those who cannot come to the church may read this Akathist at home.
Blessings of our Lord!
